How would a Domiciliary (home) visit help me?
Home visit physiotherapy offers a flexible, comfortable and highly personalised way to receive treatment from one of our experienced physiotherapists in your own home. A home appointment is ideal for people who find it difficult or stressful to attend clinic appointments. It brings expert care directly to your home, allowing you to focus on recovery in an environment where you feel relaxed, supported and at ease.
One of the biggest benefits is convenience. There’s no need to travel, organise transport or navigate busy schedules. This makes home physiotherapy ideal for individuals with mobility challenges, recent injuries, long-term conditions, or those recovering from surgery.

Home visits also provide a unique opportunity for your physiotherapist to understand your real-life environment. They can assess how you move around your home, identify practical challenges and tailor exercises to the spaces and equipment you use. This leads to more meaningful, effective rehabilitation — whether that’s improving confidence on the stairs, practising safe transfers, or adapting daily routines to reduce pain and strain.

WHAT TO EXPECT
What happens during a Domiciliary (Home) visit?
During your 1 hour initial assessment, our physiotherapist will sit down with you to go through why you’ve contacted us, your problem, your history and your goals. They will assess you and help put together a treatment plan that is both realistic and achievable for your circumstances.
Towards the end of the initial assessment our physiotherapist will begin treatment using manual therapy which can help ease tightness, improve joint mobility and reduce discomfort. We may use ultrasound or acupuncture in the home setting too.
At the end of each session, your physiotherapist will work with you to put together an exercise plan for you to carry out between your sessions to build strength, stability and flexibility. You’ll also learn how to move in ways that support your body rather than strain it, helping you stay independent in your own home, active and prevent future issues.
If you ever need further advice between your sessions, our team are always here to help via phone, email or video consultation.
How would home visits fit around my other Care support?
For those with complex needs, home visits allow physiotherapists to work closely with family members or carers, offering guidance on safe mobility, positioning, and supportive strategies that improve day-to-day comfort and independence.
WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY
★★★★★
“I’ve known George for 17 years and over that time have received treatment for my back and neck to keep me able to continue my work in a cafe stood for long periods prepping food. Over that time a combination of acupuncture and massage was used. Most recently I have attended the clinic following slipping on ice. Unfortunately I did too much one time and when unable to put any weight on my right leg George came to see me at home, reassured me, updated my GP and gave me some crutches so that I could move around at home. After many treatments of acupuncture and ultrasound with the problem not going away George was able to help getting in touch with the GP which helped to get me to see a consultant. Turns out I need a new hip! I will always use George and her team for treatment”

The total number of sessions needed varies from patient to patient and is usually determined by several factors, such as; how the injury occurred, how long the problem has been present, your lifestyle, how consistent you are with following your rehab plan (e.g. exercises) and what your goals are. However, most moderate musculoskeletal injuries typically require somewhere between 3 and 6 physiotherapy sessions.
The regularity and length of your sessions can be discussed with your physiotherapist as there are other factors that may alter or change this as you go through your rehabilitation.
As treatment progresses and your condition improves, you would be able to continue treatment in clinic if that suits you.
