How can physiotherapy help?
Physiotherapy helps people move better, feel stronger and manage pain by treating problems that affect muscles, joints, nerves, the heart and lungs. It supports recovery from injury and surgery, improves mobility, helps to manage degenerative conditions (such as Parkinson’s), and helps people keep their independence and to get moving again.
Treatment is tailored to your goals, whether that’s returning to sport, keeping up with your kids, improving posture at work or feeling more confident in your body day to day.

As well as the more typical musculoskeletal issues, physiotherapy can help with neurological conditions such as recovery from a stroke or a heart attack, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and spinal cord injury.
Physiotherapy can help with pre- and post-natal issues, such as pelvic girdle pain and diastasis recti, as well as incontinence.
Treatment can also benefit anyone who is struggling to manage chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and jaw pain.
However, there are many more injury types and conditions that may improve with knowledgeable physiotherapy care and treatment. If you’re not sure whether physiotherapy is for you, we have a FREE 10 minute consultation (over the phone) with one of our physiotherapists to discuss your concerns and advise whether we can help you.

Is physiotherapy right for me?
Most importantly, physiotherapy is for everyone. You don’t need to be sporty, injured or in severe pain to benefit. Many people come simply because they want to feel better, move more freely or take proactive care of their health.
Whether you’re dealing with a new problem or something that’s been bothering you for a while, physiotherapy offers a friendly, supportive space to start improving how your body feels and functions.
We offer a free 10 minute chat with one of our team to see if physiotherapy is right for you, discuss your issue and to find out how we can support your recovery.
OTHER TREATMENTS TO SUPPORT YOUR RECOVERY
Alongside manual therapy, our physiotherapists are trained in acupuncture, ultrasound and shockwave therapy to compliment your treatment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What happens at a physiotherapy session?
A typical session at Bank on Movement might include a mix of manual therapy, targeted exercises, movement retraining and practical advice you can use at home. Manual therapy helps ease tightness, improve joint mobility and reduce discomfort. Exercise-based rehabilitation builds strength, stability and flexibility in the areas that need it most. You’ll also learn how to move in ways that support your body rather than strain it, helping you stay active and prevent future issues.
At the end of each session, you will leave with a detailed plan of simple exercises tailored to your injury, recovery and end goals that will compliment the treatment that you have had during your session. These can be emailed or printed, whichever is best for you, and our team is always available for a talk in-between your appointments if you need further advice or support.
WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY
★★★★★
“Earlier this year I suffered a rotator cuff injury and trapped nerve in my neck. It was agony! Having been told I might wait 3 weeks for physio a friend recommended Bank on Movement physio. From the first phone call everyone was supper helpful. I saw Tommy he was professional personable and a genuinely lovely guy. He was thorough in his assessment and the exercises helped enormously and I’m happy to say I made a full recovery. Tommy also took interest in what I had to say about life changes I thought I should make in light of the injury and my general wellbeing . He offered encouragement which was so important as serious injury can make you feel vulnerable and uncertain. Recommend Bank on Movement physio to anyone and I would certainly use them again (although hopefully not to soon).”

Not all patients are referred through to us by their GP and everyone is more than welcome to book in with us if they have any concerns relating to an injury or condition that they think we will be able to help with.
If you’re not sure whether a physiotherapy session is relevant for you, we are able to offer potential patients a FREE 10 minute phone-based appointment with our experienced physiotherapists to discuss your injury. To book in with us call our friendly reception team on 01433 623 602 or click on ‘Book Appointment’ at the top of this page.

Upon arrival at the clinic for your initial assessment, you will be able to wait in our small, cosy waiting area (situated to the right when you follow the corridor into the clinic). We have water and tea/coffee available in reception and once your physiotherapist is available, they will approach the waiting area and take you through to one of our Treatment Rooms.
Here you will be able to discuss your injury and/or concerns with your physiotherapist in depth who will then put together a treatment plan with you. If you have booked an hour initial assessment, your physiotherapist will begin with a treatment session towards the second half of your appointment.
When you have finished your treatment, your physiotherapist will direct you through to reception where our friendly reception team will book you in for your next session (if necessary) and, if you’re a private patient, take payment.
If appropriate, your physiotherapist will either print off or email through exercises for you to follow between your sessions. If you have any questions or queries in between your sessions you are welcome to call us on 01433 623 602, our Team would be more than happy to help you in any way that they can.

The number of sessions needed all varies depending upon the injury itself (the location of the injury, how long has it been presenting itself, is it a recurring injury, the history of any previous injuries, etc.), how much pain you are in and what your goals are.
Whilst this means that there isn’t a particular limit on the number of sessions that you might need, if the issue is a short-term muscle strain, recent joint sprains, postural flare-ups or over-use aches, we usually recommend patients would most likely be seen for approximately 3 to 6 sessions.
Our experienced physiotherapists will go through this with you during your initial assessment when discussing your treatment plan and are open to considering other factors which may impact the amount of sessions booked, we understand that sometimes financial and time constraints may be be a limiting factor so we are happy to work with you to find a solution.

Yes, at Bank on Movement our Team are registered with most private insurance agencies such as Aviva, Axa, Bupa, CHP, HCML, IPRS, PhysioMed, ProClaim, Pronto, Speed Medical/OPM, The Physio Network, VHG, Westfields and more.
If you would like to book in with us through your insurance, how to do this would depend upon your cover so we recommend that you speak to your insurance first.
Patients with a cash-back plan would need to confirm with their insurance as to how much they would be covered for and then claim back after each session until their allowance has been exhausted. We will give you a receipt after your session.
Private healthcare patients are required to book in via phone with our friendly reception team to ensure that they are booked in under the correct insurance provider.

Whilst this depends upon what area will be treated, we usually advise:
Hips & Knees: Loose shorts or baggy trousers
Back: Loose, relaxed t-shirt.
Shoulders & Neck: a vest

After your first treatment, you will hopefully feel relieved after a diagnosis of your condition or problem and will have a clear idea of how to address, remedy and resolve your issue so you can keep doing what you love.
You may feel a little sore, particularly after your first session, but our physiotherapy team are on-hand to chat to if you have any concerns. Feeding back how you felt after your session can help us in our assessment and treatment of your problem as this will help your physiotherapist understand your condition further.
